Garrett Jones (owner) has been a professional guide and wilderness instructor for nearly twenty years. His wide range of personal and professional experience in Alaska and the Arctic gives him an appreciation for the wilderness landscape and he loves to share this experience with others. Even though his education in Environmental Science and Outdoor Recreation Management has helped with his professional goals, he believes getting out there is one of the best learning tools one can have. With his many professional wilderness-based certifications and backcountry teaching ability, any trip with Garrett will be fun, safe, and an educational experience. Garrett always takes professionalism to another level and is always smiling while doing it.
Brenda Murphy (owner) is a key component in the success of Arctic River Guides; her support and behind the scene efforts make every trip fluid. She frequents as many trips as her schedule allows, but her professional life as a Hospice RN comes first. Because of Brenda’s love for rivers and being in the wilderness, she often has a hard time returning from any trip.
Garrett and Brenda love Alaska and the Arctic, advocating, learning, floating, hiking, and sharing there experience with others. When not guiding trips and tours Garrett and Brenda can be found doing personal float trips, gardening, skiing, hunting, and enjoying life in the Interior of Alaska where they live year around with their 4 sled dogs.
